People who work at computers all day, excluding programmers: what do you do?

System Admin and technical support, I usually just remote into servers and people's computers to solve problems. So I'm on a computer all day long, I get up rarely from my chair... just to go to lunch. I use to be hands on and travel the world, now I sit behind a desk. I don't do any programming. I used to work from home 3 or more days a week, but this new company wants to see my face.

Not meant to scare you but are you aware that sitting for long periods of time increases your risk of chronic health problems? ( You can read about them here--Sitting risks)

Do you have a favorite place where you traveled?
I know, I try to stand as much as I can but it's easy to sit for a few hours trying to solve a problem and not notice how long I've been sitting, until I go to stand. I wear compression socks like on a long plane flight. I used to cycle almost 200 miles a week and that made me feel better. I need to get back into it.

I worked for a huge corporation with many world wide brands. I covered the western United States, Mexico, Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Taiwan. It was a team of 33 of us covering many other parts. It was not glamorous, I never got to go sightseeing. And that partly because the main guy CEO, was afraid to travel and we were not allowed in to venture anywhere without escorts. The facilities where I worked were not in beautiful places. We would travel 5 days out of the month and then someone else would go. A couple of times I was able to sneak away, one of the places I loved was Puerto Vallarta Mexico. I would change my plane ticket for the next day and sneak off.

I know the feeling when I had a job once where I had to sit at a desk for long periods of time. I bought a device called an exercise peddler or also known as an under the desk peddler or foot exerciser. It really worked and helped with stopping my legs from cramping.

Love to cycle and hope you do get back to it.

That really stinks that you're in these countries but not allowed to go sightseeing.

Good on you. Never been there but I've seen pictures and it looks beautiful there.
